3D Character March 1 2016

Today we learnt about animation and how it relates to character design from most platforms of media. There are 12 principles of animation that should always be referred to when creating an animation, these are:

1) Timing
2) Ease In and Out
3) Arcs
4) Anticipation
5) Exaggeration
6) Squash and Stretch
7) Secondary Action
8) Follow Through and Overlapping Action
9) Straight Ahead Action and Pose to Pose Action
10) Staging
11) Appeal
12) Personality

One of the terms exaggeration refers to movement that is very over the top and not realistic in the slightest, common examples of this occur in cartoons such as Wile E Coyote running off a cliff but standing on empty space.
