3D Character March 8 2016

Today we learnt about the art of animating a character. Our tutor set up a document for us to download which was a ready made Maya model, all having joints for parts of the body. We were taught the fundamentals of animating with walk cycle being a basic skill.

For example, I selected the right foot of the character and set its co-ordinates to match the movement of a real person when they are walking. The following was used to achieve this position:

Translate Z -28
Raise Ball 31
Raise Toe 15

The left foot was positioned in front of the character and slightly raised off the ground to match the walking motion, the right foot elevates backwards to give momentum. The following was used to achieve this:

Translate Z 24
Raise Heel -31
